All year we count down the days until we need to be “bikini ready” for the summer season. Once a year, we have the privilege of seeing a sneak peek into next seasons bikini look. Miami Swim Week is all about upstaging the old and being better than everyone else’s “new”. Although this year, Swim Week was stripped of its main Mercedes-Benz sponsored event, they pulled through and had so many successful shows. We were glad to be back at some of the Swim Week shows this year getting a glimpse of what is to come!
Swim Week is more than just one week of shows. It takes a lot of preparation and pre-events to get the public pumped for the coveted week. We were so excited to be a part of the annual Splashion event gift bags at the Fillmore Miami Beach earlier in July to help kick off this years Swim Week.
One of the main events that we were thrilled to be a part of was Keva J Swimwear by designer Keva Johnson. “The Nile Collection” was featured at this year’s event at the Ritz Carlton in Miami Beach. Inspired by the African safari and Egyptian glamour, her line has bold prints, high necklines and daring cut outs meant to be worn by confident and sassy trendsetters. Check out more of Keva J here.
We were also at the Anita Rincon Swim show on Sunday the 23rd. It was the 27 year old owner and designer Anita Rincons’ launch of her first “Diosa de la Jungla” collection. The collection has handpicked fabrics and each handmade by Argentine manufactures in Los Angeles. We loved all the pieces and look forward to her next lines. Find more on Anita and her line here.
In partnership with ZICO premium coconut water, we were featured in the presentation of a Summer Welcome Basket for Victoria Secret model Martha Hunt who was the cover of the Ocean Drive Magazine summer bikini issue. We love sharing our amazing products and we know Martha is going to love having our products and being able to take some of Miami Beach with her.
Swim Week is a time where all swim suit lovers gather and gaze in awe. Not only are the events jaw dropping, but the city of Miami Beach is one that gives all the event attendees an experience they will never forget. Take some MB Miami Beach with you so that you can enjoy some of Miami Beach all year long!
This week, the City of Miami Beach hosted 100 hours of events celebrating their centennial during the beach’s biggest-ever birthday party! With many of the activities taking place on the sand, MB Suncare lifeguards were there to make sure that all guests and visitors were protected from the sun. From spraying guests with our SPF 50 sport spray to bringing our SPF 30 sea kelp lotion dispenser with us, everyone was able to experience a little of Miami Beach fun, sun and protection.
The festivities began with a great workout with Shaun T, Core Power and lots of #everydayawesome! Then we celebrated with officiating the marriage of 100 couples on the sand by Mayor Philip Levine himself! Add the naturalization of 100 new American citizens, a celebrity tennis tournament and fashion show highlighting 100 years of Miami Beach fashion and you’ve just witnessed a celebration of Miami Beach history with an underlying vision for its future.
To culminate the 100 hours, Miami Beach hosted the largest free entertainment event in its history when Hard Rock Rising Miami Beach Global Music Festival took over Ocean Drive on Thursday, March 26, 100 years since Miami Beach’s incorporation in 1915. With headliners including Gloria Estefan, Barry Gibb of The Bee Gees, Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli, Jon Secada, Wyclef and Flo Rida, the concert was no less than incredible talent coming together to celebrate 100 years of Miami Beach.
In case it’s not clear yet, this is how we celebrate!
Public Sunscreen Dispenser Unveiling Ceremony
— First City to Offer its Sunscreen at Public Dispensers, Free of Charge —
When: Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Where: 21 Street Beach Entrance
Miami Beach, FL – The City of Miami Beach, who launched its official and exclusive MB Miami Beach Suncare last year, is now installing 50 sunscreen dispensers throughout the city for public use.
Thanks to the support of exclusive sponsor, Mount Sinai Medical Center, and supporting sponsor Destination Brands International, the sunscreen dispensers will be placed at public pools, parks and various beach access points near lifeguard stands for all who visit Miami Beach to use, free of charge.[article-end-block-up]
With the city’s centennial on March 26, 2015, the launch of this program comes just in time to serve as a birthday gift to the community for its 100th anniversary.
“As the fun and sun capital of the world, people engage in the many outdoor activities available from relaxing at the beach to playing on our courts and doing so unprotected can lead to sunburns, which is a major cause of skin cancer,” said Miami Beach City Manager Jimmy Morales. “Public safety is priority and we’re offering this amenity because we care.”
According to the American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common of all cancers. It accounts for nearly half of all cancers in the United States. More than 3.5 million cases of basal and squamous cell skin cancer are diagnosed in this country each year. Melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, will account for more than 73,000 cases of skin cancer in 2015.
“As we celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the City of Miami Beach, Mount Sinai Medical Center is proud to be an institution within Miami Beach for over 65 years,” said Steve Sonenreich, Mount Sinai President and CEO. “We are pleased to offer these free sunscreen dispensers as part of our commitment to improving the health and well-being of our community and its visitors.”
The sunscreen being provided in the dispensers is none other than MB Miami Beach Triple Action Sea Kelp Sunscreen Lotion. The light, non-greasy, quick absorbing lotion is SPF 30, broad spectrum to protect from both UVA and UVB rays and water-resistant for up to 80 minutes. The sea kelp offers unique benefits of helping to restore proteins and minerals lost in the sun, firming the appearance of the skin and helping to protect against photo-aging with its natural sunscreen properties.
“We could not have done this without the support of everyone who buys MB Miami Beach sunscreen,” said Desiree Rodriguez, vice president of sales and marketing for Destination Brands. “Through the portion of proceeds that go towards skin protection education, the MB Foundation is able to fund the free sunscreen being offered in the dispensers.”
As the city celebrates its centennial, this could not be a better time to offer a gift of skin protection and awareness to the millions who enjoy this top global destination each year.
