Public Sunscreen Dispenser Program

In 2014, the United States Surgeon General issued a call to action to help prevent skin cancer in America. With 5 million people treated each year in the United States, and an estimated annual cost of $8.1 billion in treatment, his objective is to increase awareness of the dangers of skin cancer.

Just one year later, Miami Beach Suncare responded to this call and launched the first free sunscreen dispenser program in the nation offering quality sunscreen lotion to all who visit our public beaches, parks and pools.

The program brings together a private sponsor, Mount Sinai Medical Center, with a municipality, the City of Miami Beach, to offer the public benefit of sunscreen.

Last summer, the free sunscreen dispenser program was recognized by Vice President Joe Biden during his Cancer Moonshot Initiative Summit in Washington, DC for being proactive in increasing awareness on sun safety and doing our part to help prevent skin cancer.

The program also received national recognition with its first industry award at Cosmoprof North America in Las Vegas last year. Awarded to a select few of the 1,200 exhibiting brands, the prestigious 2016 Trendsetter Award identified the most innovative exhibitors who are setting trends on a global scale.

Due to the success of the program, Mount Sinai Medical Center and the City of Miami Beach have approved an extension for the next five years through 2022.

The program has also been extended to the City of Long Beach, NY (sponsored by NYU Winthrop Hospital) and the Town of Hempstead, NY (sponsored by South Nassau Communities Hospital).

As the official and exclusive sunscreen of the City of Miami Beach, we are excited to continue giving back to our community and to lead this national movement in skin cancer awareness and prevention.
